West Paris house fire displaced 21 residents; improperly installed wood pellet stove blamed
Investigators say an improperly installed wood pellet stove caused a
weekend blaze in West Paris that destroyed a home and displaced 21
people.
About 60 firefighters from more than a dozen
surrounding communities responded to the blaze reported just before
midnight Saturday.
Chief Norm St. Pierre says the fire started after an
improperly installed wood pellet boiler caused the building’s vinyl
siding to overheat.
The fire spread rapidly up the building’s walls into the attic and the home was fully engulfed within minutes.
There were no injuries.
The American Red Cross found emergency housing for the displaced residents, ten of whom are children.
