New boiler boost for production at King’s Lynn flooring factory
A new biomass boiler at Lynn hardwood flooring manufacturer Reeve Wood will ensure a 20 per cent increase in manufacturing output as well as cheap heat for neighbouring Hardwick Industrial Estate companies.
Thanks to the government’s Renewal Heat Incentive scheme, which is designed to encourage the installation of environmentally efficient energy systems and remove waste from going to landfill, a 199 Kw biomass boiler now heats the offices and factory to 20°C.
Reeve Wood managing director, Tom de Winton, pictured with the boiler said: “Disposal of wood waste had been holding us back for some time so we decided to install the largest boiler we could under the RHI scheme.
“We faced a race to finish the project in just five months before the RHI cut off date. It was a fantastic team effort involving S J Pemberton Builders, who built the boiler house in three weeks from scratch, Ambit Engineering who built the auger system and WSR Electrical who wired up. Raggnar Energy supplied and commissioned the boiler.”
Reeve are capable of producing more heat than they need and are looking for neighbours interested in partnering them in the use of surplus heat. Mr de Winton said: “We are producing incredibly cheap heat which can be used by companies for production and heating purposes – all it needs is a pipe through the wall. This is a great opportunity for others to reduce costs.”
